• Congratulations, Phuong Hoang!

    This month, we are focusing the practice of 108 sun salutations - a vigorous practice that will be challenging yet greatly fulfilling, and will help us start the new year feeling accomplished with energy and grace. It seems as though this level of commitment in yoga practice is something you are not unfamiliar with.

    What is your personal reason for starting and continuing your yoga practice?

    My doctor recommended that I try yoga or meditation. Since then, I have been attending class 5 days a week.

    What additional benefits have you gained from your yoga practice that may not be offered in another form of exercise/activities?

    I now have a community of new friends that I didn’t have previously. I feel stronger and healthier.

    Do you have any helpful tips for fellow students to stay committed?

    It is much easier for me to attend classes because I am retired. So, I have more flexibility than others, but I also make yoga a priority. I treasure my class time. It is important to find a class you enjoy so that you look forward to going. I’m motivated by my instructors and by their encouragement and positive feedback. I also find inspiration from my classmates.

    I am a proud grandmother of six.
