    Grace Yoga (GY): For the month of November, we're concentrating on Yoga Sutra 2.33: When the mind is disturbed by negative thoughts, one should dwell on their opposites. Diana, what are your thoughts on how this sutra connects to your yoga practice? 
    Diana Galaviz (DG): I believe that  health and a discerning mind are gifts we are provided with, which are not to be taken for granted.  To me  yoga is  a way  to cultivate these gifts in my life.  I have found that practicing yoga helps my mind, body and soul to stay strong.

     

     

    GY: What additional benefits have you gained from your yoga practice that may not be offered in another form of exercise?
    DG: My body seems more flexible, my balance seems to be improving and I am learning to meditate which helps my concentration. 

     

     

    GY: Please tell us a little about yourself: career, family, background and anything else interesting you would like us to know.

    DG: I am a retired Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor.  I proudly served people with an array of disabilities for more than 40 years in my career. I loved my job during all those years and (when time allows) I will consider volunteer service in the future. I am a mother and grandmother of 2 beautiful children and have been married for 39 years. Although my  life challenges have been very difficult to manage at times, I choose to love life and always find something to be grateful for.  I have never run out of reasons to be thankful.
