• Congratulations, Rob Micheli!

Grace Yoga (GY): Rob, how do you manage to incorporate a yoga practice into your busy lifestyle?

Rob Micheli (RM): When I retired in 2017, my oldest daughter gave me a gift certificate for Grace Yoga. She convinced me to start going so I had something to do on a regular basis. I also had a few buddies that recommended I try Grace. I started off slowly but got instantly hooked. Now I go 3-4 times a week. I try to always make time to go and sit in my favorite spot in the right back corner. I always feel better after I practice.

GY: What is your personal reason for starting and continuing your yoga practice?

RM: I have a very bad back caused by 41 years of being a dentist. There are a few poses such as twists and folds that help tremendously and I continue to get further into the mind, body and spirt of my practice. I have now incorporated Yoga into my daily life. It has also made me much more patient.

GY: What additional benefits have you gained from your yoga practice that may not be offered in another form of exercise?

RM: Yoga has increased my flexibility and has stretched out my muscles.  As a senior citizen, gyms and other classes seemed boring and not my thing. Since I started at Grace, I really enjoy the meditation and poses as they keep me interested and energized.

GY: Please tell us a little about yourself: career, family, background and anything else interesting you would like us to know.

RM: I was born and raised in the Sunset District of SF. I was a dentist for 41 years in San Bruno. I have been married for 42 years and have 2 grown daughters, and a grandson. In my spare time, when I am not practicing at Grace, I referee high school football, am an avid golfer and 49er season ticket holder.  You may also see me around town at one of my many coffee groups that I am associated with. Oh, did I mention my new job? I referee the 49er practices 3 days a week at Levi Stadium - I had to wait 44 years to get my dream job.
